GUS hosts inaugural GUS AI Hackathon

On Wednesday 5 July, 17 teams working across different continents and GUS brands joined together for the inaugural GUS AI Hackathon. The event was initiated and hosted by Anastasia Fraser, Chief Growth Officer at GUS.
Participants were split into randomly assigned teams and given the chance to select 2 AI tools to research and present on. The teams had just 12 mins each to present to other teams, giving an in-depth description of their chosen AI tools and explaining the pros and cons of the innovations. The presentations were judged by Anastasia Fraser, Miguel Blazquez, Global Chief Technology Officer at GUS and Prof Dr Maurits Van Rooijen, Chief Executive of Academics at GUS, based on criteria including team work and innovation.
Participants were extremely enthusiastic, creating exciting and engaging presentations to share with other GUS members. Without a doubt, all who participated learned something new during their research process and on the presentation day.
The event was followed by a survey where participants could vote for their own favourite team and share their own experiences of working collaboratively.
All presentations were well-thought-out and researched and the judges had a tough time deciding on the winners, but on Tuesday 11 July, the winners were announced. Joint 1st place went to Team Arden and Team 5, joint 2nd place to Team 4 and 13 and 3rd place to Team University of Law and Team 7.
Well done to all that took part and GUS looks forward to more Hackathon events in the near future!
