UE hosts SMEG Germany and ABOUT YOU at Hamburg campus
Over the past two weeks, the University of Europe for Applied Sciences, in collaboration with the Marketing Club Hamburg, under the leadership of Wolfgang Merkle, UE Professor, welcomed the international brands SMEG and ABOUT YOU to the Hamburg campus.
As part of the Marketing Club evenings, senior representatives from both companies delivered inspiring presentations.
Olaf Nedorn, Managing Director of SMEG Germany, illustrated how the company from Northern Italy managed to establish itself as a luxury brand in a fiercely competitive market. In addition to the company’s history, he provided insights into brand positioning, partnerships and brand awareness.
For the international trading platform ABOUT YOU, Annika in der Beek, Director of People and Organisation at ABOUT YOU, and Dr Neda von Rimon, Head of Corporate Office at ABOUT YOU, discussed the employer branding of the virtual trading platform, emphasising that a strong customer brand alone does not ensure a strong employer brand.
Professor Wolfgang Merkle, who invited the companies to the UE campus, said: “Only through the exchange of practical experience can our students learn in a practical manner. Through these events, they gain a completely new perspective on the topics covered in class.
“In the end, it’s a win-win for both sides, as companies help young talents grow, and students learn early on what the professional world feels like.”
