Amal Clooney Scholarships for Human Rights Advocates

Launched in partnership with Amal Clooney and the Clooney Foundation for Justice (CFJ), this scholarship aims to empower individuals committed to advancing human rights and driving positive change across the globe.

Operating in over 40 countries, the Clooney Foundation for Justice is dedicated to pursuing global justice by providing pro bono legal assistance to victims of human rights violations worldwide.

This scholarship is for individuals who are dedicated to advancing global human rights and catalysing social change.

This prestigious award offers one exceptional candidate full funding for a postgraduate law degree at the University of Law (excludes short courses), providing a transformative opportunity to develop expertise in human rights law and advocacy.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Have received an offer for one of the University of Law’s eligible postgraduate law degrees
  • Achieve a passing score in the Amal Clooney Scholarship online questionnaire
  • Achieve the highest score on the Written Project Proposal
  • If you’ve not yet applied to one of The University of Law’s courses, you can browse them here.

apply

To apply for The Amal Clooney Scholarship for Human Rights Advocates, you need to:

  • Complete the online questionnaire here – achieve a score of 8 out of 11 questions. Please note: Each applicant only gets one attempt at completing and passing the online assessment. However, there are no time constraints, so you can save and resume at any time.
  • If you pass the questionnaire, you will be invited to submit and achieve the highest score on the Written Project Proposal. Please note: Each applicant only gets one attempt at writing and submitting the project proposal. If multiple proposals are submitted, only the first submission will be considered.

What is the application deadline?

For courses starting in September 2025 – You must complete the online scholarship assessment by Sunday 29 June 2025. Those shortlisted will need to have submitted the final assessment by Monday 7 July 2025.

When will the winner be announced?

For courses starting in September 2025 – Friday 25 July 2025
