GUS institutions launch International Mother's Day campaign

London, 11 May 2018 – Global University Systems institutions London College of Contemporary Arts (LCCA) and The Language Gallery (TLG) have this week launched a joint campaign to celebrate International Mother’s Day.

Mother’s Day is celebrated on various days across the world, with 13th May known as International Mother’s Day in many countries. To celebrate the occasion, international students from TLG and LCCA were asked to share their thoughts and experiences about motherhood, capturing their stories on video.

The Language Gallery students talked about how they celebrate International Mother’s Day in their home countries. They described the most common traditions for this day and explained why their mothers are an inspiration to them.

During the interview, the students congratulated their mothers in their native languages, which was featured in the TLG Mother’s Day blog. The initiative was part of The Language Gallery’s wider ‘Around the World’ campaign, which has been engaging TLG students across the globe to learn more about international holidays and their celebration.

London College of Contemporary Arts interviewed four of its students from different countries, four mothers who shared their feelings about the day. They talked about what being a mother truly means to them, discussed the most challenging aspects of raising children whilst studying, and their role models. Their thoughts and experiences were published in the LCCA International Mother's Day blog.

The blogs and videos were published on the institutions’ websites and shared across social media channels prior to International Mother’s Day.
