GISMA Business School and Maastricht School of Management launch dual MBA

GISMA Business School and the Dutch institution Maastricht School of Management today launched a dual international MBA. The programme will be delivered at GISMA’s Hannover campus, and will allow students to achieve a dual degree at the same time as they have access to career opportunities in the prosperous economy of the Lower Saxony region. The new alliance comes five months after GISMA’s acquisition by the international education group Global University Systems, which is paving the way for the school to strengthen operations at both local and international levels.

Launched in 1999 by the then Chancellor Gerhard Schröder in a joint initiative with the state of Lower Saxony and private-sector enterprises, GISMA has worked alongside some of the top German public and private organisations, helping the local economy by providing companies such as Volkswagen and Continental AG with aspiring and highly-skilled executives and business professionals.

The partnership brings together two highly respected institutions, with AMBA-accredited programmes and recognised standards in postgraduate education. In addition to sharing the distinction, the schools will now collaborate over various courses and academic facilities, combining their academic strength and giving more students the chance to benefit from a wider portfolio of programmes.

As well as a dual degree, the MsM MBA offers greater opportunities for both local and international students to engage in a multicultural environment, where they can learn not just with GISMA’s outstanding academic team, but also from each other’s experience. The course ensures greater interaction by mixing full-time and part-time cohorts and as well as engaging with local alumni and employers.

Set to start in May 2014, the MsM MBA was designed to suit the needs of international students seeking the best of the German and Dutch education experiences as well the benefits of the international mindset and outlook of GISMA and MsM.

Professor Maurits van Rooijen, CEO of Global University Systems’ Academic Division and acting rector for GISMA, commented: “The goal of any MBA student is to achieve career success. At GISMA, we work with leading institutions and an outstanding teaching staff to make our students’ goals a reality. In this programme, students will not only benefit from a double accreditation from GISMA and MsM, but also from the chance of studying in one of Germany’s prosperous regions with plenty of opportunities for career development.”

According to Professor Dr. Wim Naudé, Dean of the Maastricht School of Management “Our collaboration with GISMA is aimed to contribute towards the further deepening of management and leadership skills in German industry, with a particular emphasis on the rapidly changing  global context. German firms’ competitiveness increasingly depends on attracting international skills and managing diverse workforces. We have been in global management education for more than 60 years; we are confident that participants will make a sound career-investment when joining our programmes”.

MsM already offers a prestigious ASIIN-accredited joint-programme (MSc) in Engineering and Management with the world-renowned German RWTH Aachen University.
